Email Visual Template Editor: Button and Multi-Column Layout

Learn more about using the button and multi-column layout widgets within the email template editor.

This article covers how to design an email campaign with the button and multi-column layout elements. These elements can be used in conjunction with other elements in the Email Visual Template Editor (VTE).

Access the Email VTE by following the below steps.

  1. Navigate to the flag icon on the left-hand navigation.

  2. Go to Communicate.

  3. Then Automated or One-Time Campaigns.

  4. Click New in the upper right-hand corner.

  5. Then, click Create New Campaign.

  6. Go to the Message tab.

  7. Click Copy Existing Template or Create New Template.

BUTTON

Select to Use button editor or Use image for the button. If you use an image, click here for information. Available configurations in the button editor:

  • Hide this widget on mobile or desktop: By selecting this checkbox, the image element will not show on a mobile or desktop device.

  • Button Text: Enter custom text.

  • Link To: The URL the customer is direct to when clicked.

  • Deep Link: By selecting this checkbox, the mobile app will open. Deep linking is available by special request for customers leveraging Branch.io for mobile links.

  • Ignore Campaign Level Tracking: By selecting this checkbox, the tracking parameters previously configured will not be applied here.

  • Editing Options: Color, font, emphasis, decoration, alignment, padding, and border.

  • Widget Padding: Use the slider or enter a number (pixels) to adjust the spacing along the top, bottom, or side of the button widget.

  • Container Background Color: Click the field to use the color picker or enter a hex color code.


MULTI-COLUMN LAYOUT

Previously known as image/button pair, use this new option to use up to four images or buttons in a side-by-side layout. Stack, scale, or divide the elements in the design to optimize this widget for mobile and desktop displays.

  • Hide this widget on mobile or desktop: By selecting this checkbox, the image element will not show on a mobile or desktop device.

  • Spacing (desktop and mobile): Enter a number (pixels) to adjust the spacing between elements on desktop and mobile.

  • Editing Options: Configure the font size, line height, and letter spacing for desktop and mobile.

  • Mobile Mode: Select an adjustment for this layout on mobile devices (stacked, even division, or scaled).

  • Widget Padding: Configure the padding (pixels) for top, bottom, left, and right.

  • Container Background Color: Click the field to use the color picker or enter a hex color code.

CONFIGURATIONS

Select the checkbox on each to include or exclude an element. Configure each of the below options for the applicable elements in the layout, up to four elements.

  • Select button editor or image: Select to create the elements with the button editor or with an image.

  • Text: Enter the specific text to display.

  • Link URL: Enter a specific URL to link shoppers to. For example, if this is a sale link, enter a link directly to your sales page.

  • Deep Link: By selecting this checkbox, the mobile app will open. Deep linking is available by special request for customers leveraging Branch.io for mobile links.

  • Ignore Campaign Level Tracking: By selecting this checkbox, the tracking parameters previously configured will not be applied here.

  • Editing Options: Color, font, emphasis, decoration, text transform, background color, and boarder.
